The Fall

It's almost here. The best season of the year: Fall. I love the smell, the feel, and especially the sights of Fall. There is no season that can compare with the beauty of Fall. It's a pity that it seems to be the shortest season, especially in Utah. Summer goes, the leaves change for a split second, then it snows and we have Winter until May. Whenever I get excited for Fall, I'm always reminded of the movie, "You've Got Mail." It makes me want to buy a "boquet of freshly sharpened pencils." I miss getting excited to shop for school, paying the "large" student fees of $100. Now I dread emptying my pockets to buy a book and food so I can survive. But back to happy thoughts, since this post is supposed to be about Fall.
One of the greatest things about the season is the perfect weather. Hot enough to have a picnic or take a nap on the grass, yet cool enough to wear your favorite jacket, or go on a hike. A hike: that is what I'm planning in the next few days. My friend, Josh, told me of a hike that goes up to a waterfall and I'm really looking forward to some good photo opportunites and a nice day in the red Southern Utah mountains. Yesterday I went up into Cedar Canyon to take some photos of nature. I appreciate the photographers that take photos of, well, anything. I used an SLR camera and had to manually control the light and focus, but it was quite the task since I was sitting in the middle of the road to get just the right shot. I had to readjust several times because of cars that kept coming. It's amazing what a change in temperature and a few inches of the sun moving can do to a scene. I hope my pictures turn out.
Enjoy the fall. Enjoy every season for that matter. I'm so lucky and amazed that I live in a place where I get to experience the nature of all 4 seasons. I love Fall.

P.S. My friend Trent says he loves fall because that's when everything is dying. It's a wonder that death can be beautiful.
